Transportation Update, Poland School bus with Caution sign

Due to an unexpected bus driver shortage this afternoon, the MCCTC/STEM bus shuttle schedule will be altered today. An arrangement has been made for MCCTC/STEM Shuttle riders to be picked up from their school at 1:00 p.m. to arrive back at Poland Local School District around 1:30 p.m. Due to the early return, the shuttle will attempt to drop students off at the stadium lot around 1:30 p.m. If you cannot pick up your student at this earlier time or pick-up arrangements cannot be made, your child will be dropped off at Poland Seminary High School. Students will be given a space to complete work until PSHS dismissal at 2:15 p.m. You can pick your child up earlier than PSHS dismissal at the PSHS front entrance.

Fifth Grade students standing outside of Poland Middle School with Mr. DeBolt, holding various sized spherical items like exercise balls, softballs, and candies to represent the planets.

Just how big is our solar system? Mr. DeBolt's fifth grade classes demonstrated the vast distances between planets on a smaller scale, using tic-tacs, Nerd candies, softballs, exercise balls, and golf balls to represent the planets. They were all so small in comparison to our very large and bright sun! Mr. DeBolt told them that Nicoletta as Neptune could have been as far as 2 miles away for this to be 100% accurate, but then this would have been a field trip! It was a fun day representing the planets!

Transportation Update, Poland School bus with Caution sign

This afternoon, Bus #1 was involved in a traffic accident during the PSHS/Middle School portion of the afternoon drop-off procedure. No students were immediately injured/harmed by the accident. The bus contained Poland Seminary High School students as they were en route to pick up the middle school students at Poland Middle School. Bus #1 riders were evaluated by local officials to ensure their safety. Then, the riders were relocated to another bus route to resume drop-off procedures under transportation emergency protocols. With the influx of traffic at the impacted area, expect delays in the afternoon drop-off procedures for all bus routes this afternoon.
